President's Message.

Dear Naoc Members & Friends,

Unhappily, due to financial constraints NAOC had to evacuate the premises it hired from 411. The decision was at very short notice over December holidays in
order to conserve the small funds we have.
 
ALL NAOC equipment is now being stored free of charge due to the generosity of FBS Distribution warehouse in Port Coquitlam.
 
The Board is aware that many members are wondering what happened and we are endeavouring to advise members and friends.
 
NAOC is not in debt and although manned by volunteers, it requires money for rental, photocopying, paper etc.
 
As soon as NAOC is re-structured/merged and re-located, we will post a Notice on this website to advise members and friends.
 
We thank you and appreciate your support and help.

As you all may not be aware, Mrs. Heléne StMichel has been a foundation pillar in the sturdy structure of our organization and has made it possible for many of us member and volunteers alike to enjoy and reap the benefits that associating with N.A.O.C has brought to our lives.

Some of the contributions that Mrs. St.Michel has blessed us with is the effective hand outs for the many courses that is being offered at the organization, the  training of our incredible volunteer staff with whom our members interact with whenever they come to the  office.

She has been a multi-task guru by being our accountant, office administrator, front desk receptionist, volunteer teacher and if and when necessary, our technical support person.

Recently, there was a very quiet but gracious farewell luncheon held at a local restaurant honoring Heléne for her generous service over the years to N.A.O.C and a plaque of appreciation was given to this once vital and energetic force that kept the wheels at N.A.O.C. rolling along.

Of Special Interest are our computer Lab Services:

Come and practice whatever your working on. We have tutors available to answer your questions. Please bring your class handout since these are practice sessions, NOT A CLASS.
Your $2.00 drop in fee gives you access to some great helpers who really like to share their skills.

Practice Times

Fridays 12:30- 2:30 p.m.

The Lab services are available to NAOC members and students.NAOC is continually reviewing its programs and planning new workshops which may be of interest to you. This is your opportunity to request the programs that interest you. Give us a call and we will try to get them on the schedule.

Our computer Lab has been upgraded to Windows XP Home. You need not be concerned if you have other versions of Windows. All our courses will be suitable for Windows 98, 2000 and XP.

Mindscapes Discussion Group

A long tradition is continuing.  We are still meeting one Friday morning a month, at the homes of some of our members.

Even without an agenda, the group, consisting of about a dozen members, has a lively discussion going within five minutes. Sometimes we have a guest speaker followed by a discussion.  The subjects range from social issues, philosophy, local matters, and current issues.

Anybody interested to join us?  We can always use a few more new members.
